Renato Lacerda gave a Ling Lunch talk on Oct. 9, 2012. The title of the talk was “Floating Quantifiers in Brazilian Portuguese”. It was based on Renato’s master’s thesis.
“In this work I argue that the possibilities and restrictions of quantifier floating in Brazilian Portuguese are derived from the interaction between the internal structure of each quantified expression and other properties of the grammar (universal and language specific), such as Relativized Minimality, Case checking, the asymmetries between the high and the low informational peripheries, and the mapping of A- and A’-positions.”
