The 13th Workshop on Altaic Formal Linguistics is to be held from May 25 to May 28, 2017 hosted by the Department of Linguistics at International Christian University in Tokyo, Japan. One-day satellite workshops are to be held on May 25th.

The invited speakers are:

Jaklin Kornfilt (Syracuse University)
Haruo Kubozono (NINJAL)
Yurie Hara (City University of Hong Kong)

We have two calls: (a) Call for papers for the general and poster sessions, and (b) Call for Satellite workshops.

Call for Papers:

Abstracts are invited for 20-minute talks (plus 10-minute discussions) and for posters on topics dealing with formal aspects of any area of theoretical Altaic linguistics, including phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, or pragmatics. We are using Easy Abstracts at the LINGUIST List for submission and the blind review process. The address for abstract submission is: http://linguistlist.org/easyabs/WAFL13

Authors are invited to submit anonymous abstracts to any of the following sessions:

(i) General session (Oral presentation)
(ii) Poster session

Authors should indicate what session they are submitting an abstract to. The maximum length for an abstract is 2 pages (A4 or US letter size), including tables, figures, and references. Abstract text must be in English, in a 12-point or larger font, with margins of at least 2.5 cm/1 inch. Please embed your examples in the main text, rather than putting all of them together on the second page. Authors may be the first or sole author of at most one abstract, and may be a non-first co-author of any number of abstracts.

Call for Satellite workshops

Proposals are also invited for satellite workshops dealing with some aspect of Altaic languages on May 25, 2017. The maximum length for a proposal is 2 pages. It should state a theme of the proposed workshop and have a list of prospective participants with titles of their presentation (no more than 6 presentations). We can accommodate up to 2 satellite workshops on the 25th.

Opening of proposal and abstract submission: July 15, 2016

Deadline for proposal submission for satellite workshops: September 30, 2016

Notification of acceptance of satellite workshops: October 20, 2016

Deadline for abstract submission to general session: November 30, 2016

Notification of acceptance: January 31, 2017
